After the end of the FIA ETCR and WTCR championships, Jean-Karl Vernay quickly bounced back. As the Customer Racing Manager at Duqueine Automotive, the driver is also reconnecting with the world of endurance racing, just 10 years after his GT victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Happy anniversary!
His new cockpit, and a significant one at that, puts him behind the wheel of a Hypercar with a Milanese accent: the Isotta Fraschini Typo 6 Pista. As a new development driver for this historic brand founded in 1900, Jean-Karl Vernay is involved in an extensive testing program that began at Motorland Aragon. The Frenchman has happily returned to the top level of motorsport and expressed satisfaction with his first laps: “I had a lot of sensations to rediscover, the speed, the grip, the aerodynamics… It all came back quickly! I was pleased to find that I still had what it takes. These initial tests went very well, even though it puts a bit of strain on the neck! These cars are truly extraordinary to drive.”
What’s next for “Jay-Kay”? For now, the Frenchman isn’t looking beyond the numerous test sessions that will continue until the homologation of the car assembled by Michelotto Engineering and his mission with the LMP3 customers of Duqueine Automotive. But one thing is certain: he’s enjoying the present moment!
