Vernay in the game

FIA ETCR Round 5 - Race IT - Vallelunga • This Italian weekend has smiled to Jean-Karl Vernay and especially to his Hyundai Motorsport N team which won its first victory of the season for the manufacturer's title and that of king of the weekend with Mikel Azcona. A result that concretized the constant progress of the Hyundai Veloster N since the very first round.

In his Furious group, “Jay-Kay” was very competitive, achieving the double with Nicky Catsburg in the quarterfinals. The semi-final saw a tough battle, allowing the Frenchman to return second place.

The fight was again great. Vernay fought from start to finish and finished third under the checkered flag, after the misfortune of his teammate Nicky Catsburg (flat tire).

It was a very positive weekend, with Hyundai Motorsport N moving up to second in the manufacturers’ standings and Jean-Karl Vernay pocketing some big points. I’m really happy for the team and Mikel. We had a very good rhythm all weekend, which is very satisfying. For my part, it was not perfect. Qualifying was difficult and on this track, overtaking opportunities are very limited. I got a good start in the final race was good, the pace was there, but to get the most out of it you have to start in front. There are a lot of positives to take from the IT Race: we have the car to fight for the lead and for the King of the Weekend title.”
