Pure ETCR - Pau-Arnos - 15-17/10/2021 - Hyundai Motorsport N and Jean-Karl Vernay won their first manufacturer's title and king of the weekend at the Pau-Arnos circuit, which hosted the final round of the inaugural PURE ETCR season.
Vernay kicked off his weekend as one of the drivers vying for the first PURE ETCR drivers’ crown, along with four other of his fellows. Despite his best efforts, the Frenchman just missed out on the title by a mere four points from Ekström. In his first battle of the weekend, he secured second place and then set the third fastest time in the time trial of the third round to get the second row of the Super Final grid.
Avoiding the collision at the start just in front of him, he took the lead and never lost it to conclude a fantastic weekend with the maximum score.
Having just missed out on the title, Jean-Karl Vernay was satisfied with this final round of the PURE ETCR season: “I am extremely happy to have been crowned king of the weekend. I think we showed a very good pace with the ETCR Hyundai Veloster N, and that translated into our best lap of the season, so we can be very happy. Everyone made a big step forward and it was really important to have the right resources to fight against the other two brands. Our goal was to win the weekend, and we couldn’t have hoped for more.”
